Segment AnyRGBD Toolkit: Extracting Geometrical Details from Depth Pictures Using SAM

Segment AnyRGBD toolkit, developed by researchers, is used to segment rendered depth pictures using SAM. SAM is a visualization tool that allows people to recognize things from the depth map. With SAM, researchers can easily extract geometrical details from RGB images.

Researchers have introduced SAD, which stands for Segment Any RGBD. It can segment any 3D object from RGBD inputs or depth pictures alone. The depth picture is then sent into SAM for further processing.

OVSeg is another tool used by researchers for zero-shot semantic segmentation. Users can choose between raw RGB photos or generated depth images as input to SAM. The tool provides semantic masks and SAM masks associated with the class for both types of inputs.

Outcomes

RGB images have more texture information, while depth images have more geometry information. SAM offers a wider variety of masks for RGB inputs compared to depth inputs. The produced depth picture helps reduce over-segmentation in SAM.
