Meet Aliya Rysbek, a software engineer at DeepMind. She’s a full-stack developer on the Platform team, where she helps build a custom project management system to organize DeepMind’s research projects. This system helps plan and track projects and connect people, making it easier for everyone at DeepMind to do their work.
Her typical day varies, depending on which project phase she’s in. She spends most of her time coding but also takes breaks to communicate changes to stakeholders, write docs, and test solutions. Outside of work, Aliya enjoys cooking and baking, and practicing dance and Aikido.
Aliya’s path to DeepMind has been inspired and challenging, coming from Kyrgyzstan and studying abroad in Hungary and Turkey. To get ready for her current job, she spent a lot of time preparing for coding interviews and working with mentors. Aliya hopes that DeepMind will contribute to global access to quality education, and encourages future DeepMinders to make connections and ask questions.
