Evolution of Python: A Software Engineer’s Journey at PyCon US

Kevin Millikin is a software engineer at DeepMind and is presenting at PyCon US this week. He is working on creating web-based software tools to support remote Python coding by engineers. He works in the London campus in a hybrid model and enjoys the face-to-face interaction with colleagues.

At PyCon US, he will be giving a talk on ‘Beyond Subtyping’ in Python and is excited to meet and network with people from the Python language community. He is advocating for a more inclusive and open community in the Python language and is working on developing tools that can be used by everyone.

In terms of language evolution, Kevin is pushing for a clearer roadmap and principles for evolving Python to ensure that it aligns with the needs of the future, especially in accelerating AI research.
